The Owners - Judy & Charlie

E-mail Print PDF

(pic) Judy and Charlie Lingham are the owners of St Anthony's Residential Home. After some basic nurse training Judy went on to become a dental hygenist but marrying a serviceman and being constantly on the move put an end to her promising career although she still keeps her hand in when any of the residents - or the staff for that matter - have problems with their teeth. Whilst travelling around with Charlie she has had jobs in hotels waitressing and bar work; and whilst on consecutive tours in Germany has been a cook and a cleaner. She started her career as a carer after joining the staff of a small, but select residential home in south Wales. It was not long before she became a senior carer and eventually became the boss's 'right hand woman' giving much support when the home virtually trebled in size to 36 beds and became a nursing home. In 2002, after 16 years service, and after Charlie retired from the RAF, she finally left the home in Wales to buy St Anthony's. Her wealth of experience and the fact that she has attended many courses enable her to understand the needs of most of the residents we get through our doors.

Before buying St Anthony's, Charlie had no previous caring experience having spent 38 years in the RAF as an aircraft engineer; but he brought with him his practical and managerial experience and ability which enables him to do most of the DiY jobs around the house as well as much of the day to day admin needed to run a small business.
